NABU Aachen, was entitled to but not species protection concerns about deforestation, but condemned the massive cases of up to 35-year-old trees at the future campus Melaten and along the surrounding streets. A count of the campus Melaten opponents led at least 1000 felled trees, all with a trunk circumference greater than 30 cm had.
NABU Aachen and the campus Melaten opponents criticize the very lack of concern, to be created with the weeks before the development plan to a degree accomplished facts. The already limited opportunities to run to effective legal protection, according to the law of the Federal Constitutional Court against any state action must not be denied. It also looks like that it is not in the least to the discussions on the variants I to IV of the southern access care. The large clearing area in the south of the campus grounds can guess that the version I should be implemented as a construction road immediately.
NABU Aachen Calls nachdrücklich ein Moratorium für den Süden des Erweiterungsgebietes des RWTH Campus Melaten, damit sich die geschundene Natur erholen kann.
